Gluten free diets often appear to be extremely difficult when we first encounter them, because we tend to look at a list of items that we now can’t eat. This can make our life far more uncomfortable than we need at this time, or any time for that matter.
Why not treat gluten free diets the easy way and simply concentrate on the positive aspects! There is a long list of gluten free food, that we can eat, such as all fruit and vegetables and eggs, red meat and poultry.
Look at this and we should be thinking, this cannot be that difficult. The problems start when we buy processed food and when we process food ourselves. Processing food means how we prepare and cook the food we plan on eating. If you cook your own food, look at a recipe and ask if you really need all those ingredients. If we don’t need them all, there is a real chance that we can save some money. Some recipes contain more butter, for example, than many people eat in a whole year.
There are many people in this world, who have taken a recipe and slowly removed ingredients, until they are happy with the taste. In many situations the work has been done for you, so you don’t have to reinvent the wheel or in this case reinvent the recipe. Why should a soup for example, contain anything more than the vegetable we wish to eat and water to get the consistency and taste we desire?
We all have our own personal likes and dislikes, so if we can find a good base to start from, we can adjust the recipes to our own tastes. Sometimes it is easier to start with a packaged product that has been produced so that it complies with gluten free diets requirements. With a little thought and research we can often improve our health, by looking at things from a different angle.
