Menopause Help is Good News to Our Mothers

Menopause is a stage in every middle aged woman's life that often happens naturally. Contrary to what many may believe, this condition is neither a disease nor a disorder and for this reason, it does not require any form of treatment to correct or reverse it. However, menopause may come together with a series of severe cases of either physical, emotional or mental effects that may at times force a person to seek for any type of menopause help that is both appropriate and available to her. It is for this reason that numerous types of treatment have been availed to the public so as to try and ensure that menopausal women who may be suffering can easily access them.

Hormone replacement therapy is one form of menopause help that can be provided to menopausal women. Due to the fact that some of the problems being experienced during menopause are caused by some of the hormone levels in the body dropping, hormone replacement therapy helps to replace them and eventually bring their level back to normal. In order to replace these hormones, supplements of estrogen combined with progesterone are usually administered to the patient. Once the hormones have been replaced, most women tend to feel relieved and happy with their decision to undertake this form of treatment. However, there is a dark side to this form of treatment. As much as it is used to help heal menopausal problems, it may at times place the patient at greater risks of suffering from stroke, cancer among other fatal diseases. Therefore, patients are often advised to take small doses of the supplements whenever they get to use them so as to minimize chances of experiencing their negative effects.

Another way that one can get menopause help is through the use of Femarelle (DT56a). Femarelle are drugs that help decrease the frequency and effects of hot flashes during menopause. To add on to this, Femarelle is also known to increase what is known as bone mass density something that helps make it very protective against osteoporosis fractures. To achieve maximum benefits of Femarelle, an agonistic interaction with both estrogen receptors in the brain and bone has to be established.

When depression episodes are being experienced during menopause, antidepressants can be used to help the patient. Antidepressants such as Prozac, Paxil and Effexor have over the years been used to treat these episodes as well as hot flashes, sleeping problems among many other menopausal problems. Recently, Prozac was repackaged as Sarafem and was approved for treatment of mood disorders that often occur during perimenopause and early stages of menopause.

For women who may be suffering from conditions of high blood pressure, blood pressure medicines are the best menopause help options that can be easily used. These medicines are as effective as antidepressants when it comes to relieving menopausal women from effects of hot flashes but lack the ability to treat depression conditions. An example of blood pressure medicine is Clonidine (Catapres). This drug has the ability of treating both high blood pressure related cases as well as help reduce frequencies and intensities of the hot flashes. To benefit from blood pressure medicines, instructions provided by your doctor need to be strictly followed so as not only to get helped by the medicines but also to avoid being harmed by them due to improper usage.

Probiotics Can Help Weight Loss Surgery Patients Lose More Weight

Researchers have found that probiotics, or "good" bacteria that is found on yogurt, may help gastric bypass and lap-band patients lose more weight than they would without it. Probiotics help to balance out the "bad" bacteria in your system that cause digestive or immunity problems.

Because weight loss surgery may affect a patient's gastrointestinal track, probiotics are used to normalize digestion. A study with gastric bypass patients at the Stanford University School of Medicine showed that patients who had followed a regular three month probiotics regime of "2.4 billion colonies of Lactobacillus daily" lost 10% more of their access weight then their control group counterparts, according to and the Weight Loss Surgery Channel.

In addition, probiotics also helped the patients in the study with their B12 deficiency, a common problem after weight loss surgery. Patients who had taken the probiotics for three months showed higher levels of B12 in their system than the control group who had taken a placebo.

Besides helping patients to lose more weight and to balance their B12 levels, researchers at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore also recommend probiotics to their post-op weight loss surgery patients to control gas and bloating. The hospital recommends eating one cup of DanActive Light yogurt each day or taking a probiotic tablet, such as 'L-Reuteri daily', which is manufactured by Nature's Sunshine, or Cuturelle, which is all-natural and manufactured by ConAgra foods. Both of these supplements may be found online or Culturelle is available at chain retailers like Wal-Mart, Whole Foods and GNC. Sinai Hospital reports that these probiotics do not interfere with any bariatric medication. However, always check with your bariatric surgeon before taking any supplements or medicine.

Other benefits of probiotics include: helping to fight off mental fatigue, digestive regularity, colon cancer prevention, lower cholesterol and blood pressure, better immune system, and improving mineral absorption.

Vitamins That Help You Lose Weight

Did you know that the human body requires 13 vitamins in order to properly function?

Did you know that all 13 essential vitamins are found in whole foods?

According to the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans "nutrients should be met primarily through consuming foods. Foods provide an array of nutrients and other compounds that may have beneficial effects on health. Dietary supplements, while recommended in some cases, cannot replace a healthful diet. " In laymen's terms this means that by increasing your intake of healthy food rich with nutrients, you are guaranteed to lose weight and increase your metabolism.

B Vitamins

Of all of the 13 essential vitamins, B vitamins are most commonly linked to weight loss. To better understand this relationship lets discuss the B family itself. It contains a total of eight vitamins B1 (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), niacin, B6 (pyridoxine), folic acid, B12 (cobalamine), biotin and pantothenic. B vitamins serve in a number of different capacities and perform a host of functions including creating new blood cells, boosting energy, and regulating metabolism.

With respect to metabolism, B vitamins are especially important so much that many weight loss clinics will offer weight loss patients shots of B12 to help them progress through their weight loss period. For the best results, B vitamins should be consumed collectively. Developing a diet that contains B vitamins rich foods like dairy products, egg yolks, meat, fish, leafy vegetables, and legumes will certainly improve your chances of boosting your metabolism.

Vitamin C

Paired with vitamin E, vitamin C helps in the antioxidant process and can help avoid harmful oxidation of cells. Vitamin C is also serves as a facilitator of absorption of supplementary vitamins and minerals including calcium, iron, and folcacin. Vitamin C has also been connected as a correlate to healthy hormones, bones, blood vessels, collagen and teeth. Aside from the nutritional benefits, Vitamin C is also essential to improving your immune system which is absolutely necessary for weight loss. For best results, consider incorporating the following vitamin C enriched foods into your diet dark green vegetables and broccoli, red and green peppers, citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits, and tomatoes.

Vitamin D

Through recent research, Vitamin D has been cited as a contributing factor to greater weight loss success. Be clear that Vitamin D is not the answer to all of your weight loss problems but it can change and improve some things. In particular, for persons with inadequate levels of Vitamin D who are on a weight loss program, supplementing with the vitamin can help to create balance and augment one's weight loss success. This of course would take place in accordance with other routine weight loss techniques like exercising and eating healthy foods.

Just as Vitamin C, Vitamin D also helps with the absorption of calcium which is critical in preventing osteoporosis and maintaining solid bone density. In the most natural of sources, Vitamin D can be created through 10 to 20 minutes of direct sunlight a few (three times) a week. If it is the winter season or if you're not a big fan of the sun, you can also get a decent amount of foods like cereal, bread, milk, yogurt, fish liver oils, catfish, tuna, herring, and salmon.

Vitamin E

Similar to B vitamins and Vitamin C, Vitamin E has also been identified as a strong antioxidant and contributing factor in establishing an efficient metabolism rate. In addition, Vitamin E also boosts your immune system and has been connected to preventing heart disease and in some cases cancer. Healthy skin is another benefit of Vitamin E. Vitamin E will help encourage skin elasticity which for someone looking to trim inches is a good thing. Your best option for the greatest results is to identify Vitamin E found in unsaturated fats including leafy / green vegetable like lettuce or broccoli, vegetable oil, whole grains, avocado, wheat germ oil, seeds, and nuts.
